Criminal justice • Updating of rates for translations and interpreters' fees (Sovereign Order n° 10.531 of 23 April 2024)

Sovereign Order no. 10.531 of 23 April 2024 (JDM no. 8693 of 3 May 2024) updates articles 155 and 156 of the Sovereign Order of 2 July 1866 as amended, relating to the rates for written translations, oral translations and the costs of interpreter-translators called before the Public Prosecutor, judicial police officers or their auxiliaries, before the examining magistrate or before the criminal courts.

¤ WRITTEN TRANSLATIONS

For each page of 250 words: €38.50.

¤ ORAL TRANSLATIONS

1. for the first hour of attendance, which is always due in full, as soon as the interpreter is made available to the public prosecutor, the officers of the judicial police or their assistants, the examining magistrate or the criminal courts:

Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

€65.00

Monday to Friday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

2. per hour thereafter, any hour started being due in full:

¤ TRAVEL EXPENSES

When interpreter-translators are required to travel more than 400 kilometres from their place of residence, for those who do not have a professional address in the Principality, travel expenses will be paid on presentation of supporting documents in accordance with the following conditions:

a) train: 2nd class tickets;

b) private car: kilometre allowance set at €0.45 regardless of the engine capacity of the vehicle plus reimbursement of toll and parking costs.

¤ CATERING COSTS

If the interpreter-translator needs to eat on site, the cost of meals, excluding alcoholic beverages, will be covered on presentation of supporting documents, up to a maximum of €30.00 per meal.
